National Institute of Design (NID) is the internationally acclaimed and prestigious institute offering course in the field of design. NID is a prominent institute in India for the aspirants of Design. NID does entrance examination for the creative and talented people who wanted to pursue a career in Design, called National Entrance Examination for Design (NID NEED). The eligible candidates get admission into the undergraduate program, Graduate Diploma Program in Design.

Candidate who have passed or appeared the qualifying examination under higher secondary (10+2) or its equivalent are eligible to apply for NID exam. There is no limit percentage of marks in the qualifying examination required for the appearing in the NID entrance exam. The upper age limit for the candidate for applying in under graduate programme in NID is 20 years (reservation category gets age relaxation on the upper age by 3 years). Eligibility for post graduation programme at NID is bachelor s degree or any equivalent to it. Upper age limit for candidates applying for post graduation at NID is 30 years (relaxable by 3 years for reserved categories). UG programme is of 4 years and pg programme is of 2 years in NID. The application forms for applying in NID are available from second week of October to 31st of October. Forms are available at axis banks.

Colleges Accepting NEED Score are D. J. Academy of Design, Coimbatore, IILM School of Design, Gurgaon, National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, Wigan & Leigh College, New Delhi, Pearl Academy of Fashion, New Delhi. The NEED score will valid for one year and it is used only at the time of admission. The written examination is followed by studio test and personal interview in NID. 100 students at under graduate level and 245 students at post graduate level are selected from all over India in NID.

Facilities like IT centre, library, labs etc are provided to the students studying in NID. For Under graduation students there is common foundation programme in NID but 17 different programmes like Product Design, Furniture & Interior Design, Transportation & Automobile Design, Ceramic & Glass Design, Textile Design, Graphic Design, Animation Film Design etc are provided for the post graduation in NID.
